What is a FREE NHS Health Check?

It is a national screening programme designed to detect individuals in the 40 to 74 years old age range who are at risk of developing vascular disease ( high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease).

Why do I need this check?

By having this check and identifying potential risks early, you can improve your chances of living a healthier life.

What happens next?

It will take about 30 minutes and is based on straightforward questions and measurements such as age, family history, height, weight, a urine test and a simple test to measure your glucose and cholesterol levels.

What else?

There is also an opportunity at our sessions to find out about the many local services that are available to support you eg healthy walks, stop smoking and healthy eating.

What happens next?

You will be taken through your results and told what they mean and you’ll be given personalised advice on how to lower your risk and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
