Princess of Wales Minor Injuries Unit (MIU)

This is a service where nurse practitioners see and treat patients for minor injuries and illnesses. No appointment is necessary. Facilities available include X-ray, wound closure (stitches, steristrips, glue) and application of plaster casts/splints (for patients diagnosed and treated at the centre).

How long you wait to be seen depends on the seriousness of your condition and how many patients with more serious or urgent needs arrive at the centre while you are waiting. Once seen you will usually be examined and treated quite quickly. This will depend on the treatment you need, whether you need x-rays etc.

Please note that the walk-in x-ray service is no longer available due to capacity issues. You will need to call ahead to book an appointment for an x-ray.
