I have been a partner here in Burwell since 1997. While I am interested in most areas of medicine, I am also involved in our management of asthma and lung problems. I also particularly enjoy paediatrics and exercise medicine. I am a keen cyclist.
|Dr Alex Manning|
MB, ChB, MRCGP, DCH, DRCOPG, DFFP (Manchester 1992)
I have been a GP here in Burwell since 2000. Although as a GP I come across a wide range of problems, I have particular interest in diabetes – I run the diabetic clinic with Practice Nurse Angie and also Family Planning (I fit contraceptive coils and implants). I have been a trustee of the Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridge for several years and I feel that it is really important to be providing the best possible care for patients and their families who are dealing with a life limiting illness. I also have a role in the financial management of the local NHS system representing the group of practices in the Ely area on the Cambridge and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). Away from work I enjoy music (playing in a rock band) and long distance running.

I play rugby for a local team and have a keen interest in golf, cycling and snowboarding.

I am a Salaried GP at Burwell working part-time, and spend the rest of my time working as a GP elsewhere and doing out of hours GP work. I enjoy all aspects of general practice but have particular interests in women’s health and family planning. I place coils and contraceptive implants. I also love to teach medical students and doctors who have not completed their training. Outside of work I enjoy walking my beagle, visiting the theatre and oil painting.
